Mike Pleass
Mike is an experienced technical process safety and environmental management consultant, who has held strategic and advisory roles in safety-critical industries for more than 20 years. Mike understands the processes associated with nuclear safety ‘permissioning’. He has managed the construction of Safety Cases and has directed their verification. He has an in-depth knowledge of the supporting documentation including the HAZID report, engineering schedule, design substantiation reports, and Safety Functional Requirements (SFRs). Mike also has a thorough understanding of Radioactive Substances legislation, and he has established Environmental Management Systems, e.g. ISO 14001, and Waste Strategies for nuclear weapons manufacturing facilities. He has also developed strategies designed to promote industry ‘best practice’ for Best Practicable Means (BPM) for the management of waste in the nuclear reprocessing sector. Mike is a strategic thinker who grasps complex ideas easily. He is a qualified metallurgist, and is a NEBOSH safety certificate holder. Mike thrives in projects where timescales are challenging and innovative thinking is necessary. He questions accepted practice in an effort to find simpler solutions to complex issues, and has realistic judgement with a good business sense.
